The Eleanor McMain Mustangs couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 63-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Captain Shreve on Thursday. Eleanor McMain lost against Captain Shreve in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-32 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Captain Shreve to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jyrin Sowell, who scored 21 points along with 8 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sowell has scored at least 25% of Captain Shreve's points. Another player making a difference was Aaron Guinn, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Eleanor McMain's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Captain Shreve, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Eleanor McMain will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bossier at 5:30 p.m. Captain Shreve's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Thomas More at 4:00 p.m. on December 1st. St. Thomas More has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
