The Somerset Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the McDonell Central Macks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McDonell Central will be up against a hot Somerset squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Everything went the Spartans' way against Osceola on Thursday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly ten runs.

Marissa Wegleitner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Somerset let Chloe Greeder and Izzy Johnson run wild. Greeder went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Johnson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Sophia Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Somerset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
McDonell Central came out on top against Shell Lake on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Macks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lakers a 10-0 shutout. The Macks have beaten the Lakers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lakers has come to flipping the script.
Somerset's record is now 17-6. As for McDonell Central, their record now sits at 17-6-1.
Somerset came out on top in a nail-biter against McDonell Central in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 11-10. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Macks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
