Football Recap: Pioneer Piles Up the Points Against Porter

Pioneer was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Porter on Thursday. The Diamondbacks took their game with ease, bagging a 35-7 win over the Cowboys. The Diamondbacks pushed the score to 29-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cowboys cut but never quite recovered from.

Pioneer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Malakai Galindo out in front who threw for 144 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 34 yards. Those 144 passing yards gave Galindo a new career-high. A healthy portion of Galindo's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) went to Alec Chapa, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Pioneer's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Porter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will take on Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 908 yards in their previous games. As for Porter, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pace at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The Cowboys will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
