Even though The Tom Bean Tomcats have not done well against the Alvord Bulldogs recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tom Bean simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Alvord 42-14 at home. The result was nothing new for Tom Bean, who have now won four matches by 23 points or more so far this season.
Bobby Rogers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 248 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Maguire Poole, who picked up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Alvord to a paltry 77 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Tom Bean's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was McKay Young and his two sacks.
Although Alvord took the loss, they still got scores from Kooper Parker and Zane Fuentes.
The win makes it two in a row for Tom Bean and bumps their season record up to 5-3. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24 points. As for Alvord, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tom Bean will face off against Nocona at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nocona is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Alvord, they will head out on the road to face off against Whitewright at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitewright is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
