Germantown got a great performance from Logan Zaverl as he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Zaverl has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ian Demichiel was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Vinny Inga was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Milwaukee Reagan posted their closest victory since May 15, 2024 on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Augustine Prep 8-6. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Cullen O'Keefe, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Litchford, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Germantown pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Milwaukee Reagan, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Germantown has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Milwaukee Reagan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Germantown's way against Milwaukee Reagan when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Germantown made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Warhawks repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
