Surry Central found their leader in underclassman Presley Smith, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reese Leonard, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Wilkes Central still got an impressive performance from Anna Rollins, who scored 25 points along with six steals. Rollins hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
Surry Central's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Wilkes Central, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-15.
Surry Central will take on the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Wilkes will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Wilkes Central, they will head out on the road to take on the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. East Surry presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in North Carolina (the Cardinals are ranked 104th, while the Eagles are ranked 389th).
