Basketball Game Preview: Northwest Jaguars vs. Clarksburg Coyotes

Northwest and Clarksburg are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but not for long. The Northwest Jaguars will challenge the Clarksburg Coyotes at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northwest's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

Northwest saw some tournament action on Friday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 73-57 win over Linganore.

Northwest can attribute much of their success to Landon Kelly, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points and five steals, and Alexander Greenfield, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Greenfield has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Henry Hecklinger was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Clarksburg suffered their biggest loss since February 9th last Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Damascus an easy 58-38 victory. The Coyotes have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Northwest has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Clarksburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Northwest didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Clarksburg in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
