It was a good run, but The Grace Community Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Legacy Christian Academy by a score of 28-26. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Grace Community came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Legacy Christian Academy is ranked 405th).
Ian Pulte was his usual excellent self, throwing for 207 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Hunter Ladd, who picked up 84 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Grace Community's defeat dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Legacy Christian Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
Grace Community will square off against Bishop Dunne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Grapevine Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grapevine Faith Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Legacy Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
