The Scotlandville Hornets pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Denham Springs on the road by a decisive 74-56 margin. Scotlandville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Denham Springs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Scotlandville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jamal Drewery. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with 3 steals. Drewery scored a full 57.1% of Scotlandville's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Knighten, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Scotlandville and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Denham Springs, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Scotlandville will be playing in front of their home fans against East Ascension at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Denham Springs will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Benton at 1:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Benton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Denham Springs is ranked 83rd).
