Baseball Recap: Coral Springs Has No Trouble Against Everglades

Coral Springs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Everglades, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Coral Springs Colts' way against the Everglades Gators on Thursday as the Coral Springs Colts made off with a 9-1 victory. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ryan Guthrie was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other pitching news, Angelo Painter looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Zuany, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Luis Comella also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Coral Springs now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Everglades, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coral Springs will face off against Everglades at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Everglades, they will square off against Chaminade-Madonna at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Chaminade-Madonna's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Everglades' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
