CERRITOS, Calif. - the Crusaders had a big 20-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 37-7 victory over Village Christian (Sun Valley, Calif.).
Valley Christian scored on three rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including two by
Jonathan Nicholson.
After taking the lead on a
Brian Cok touchdown run in the first quarter, the Cerritos school was up 34-0 at the half.
The Crusaders grew their lead to 37 points entering the fourth quarter. Valley Christian's lone score in the quarter came on a field goal by
Jeremy Stanley.
Village Christian's lone touchdown came on a 12-yard pass from Jesse Hanckel to Wesley Deaver in the fourth quarter.
The Cerritos school has had a tough season, allowing 33.7 points per game. But the Crusaders tightened up and held the Crusaders well below their season average of 28.0 points per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for Valley Christian, which lost to Parker last week, 46-7.
Valley Christian (3-5) will play a Olympic game against Heritage Christian next week, while Village Christian (2-7) will take on Heritage Christian also in a Olympic game.
