Fort Myers has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Naples Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Fort Myers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Gulf Coast, falling 59-27. While losing is never fun, Fort Myers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Gulf Coast is ranked 95th).
Meanwhile, Naples' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 70-48 loss at the hands of Lemon Bay. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Naples in their matchups with Lemon Bay: they've now lost three in a row.
Fort Myers' defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.7 points per game. As for Naples, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Fort Myers against Naples in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 84-44 victory. With Fort Myers ahead 47-26 at the half, the game was all but over already.
