Nate Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Great Crossing). They blew past Western Hills 17-1 on Wednesday. The Warhawks haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Landen Walters tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Eli Adkins was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Levi Hamon was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Great Crossing always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Hills only posted an OBP of .292.
The win was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 5-2. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Franklin County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Great Crossing struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Franklin County couldn't quite finish off Great Crossing in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Flyers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
