The York Catholic Fighting Irish will challenge the Littlestown Thunderbolts at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between York Catholic and Fairfield, and York Catholic kept the tradition alive. The Fighting Irish walked away with a 10-5 win over the Knights on Wednesday.

Connor Latrechiano and Christian Oswald made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Latrechiano tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Oswald pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Latrechiano went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Oswald went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roman Manfredi, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Zallnick, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Littlestown entered their tilt with Susquehannock on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Warriors. The game was the first time the Thunderbolts have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 25, 2018.
Peyton Bossom was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Walter Steele was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Littlestown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.
Littlestown's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for York Catholic, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8.
York Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Littlestown in their previous meeting back in March, winning 7-4. Do the Fighting Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Thunderbolts turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
