The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cairo of the 54-37 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2022.
Cairo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaliyah Wilkerson, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sa'Layah Purdiman, who scored 12 points.
Cairo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Cairo and Pinckneyville will face off at 10:00 a.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Marion at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th.
