St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,185 from 1,686. The advance stemmed from a 38-12 victory over St. Francis last week.
The Marauders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike McCarthy threw for 120 and 2 touchdowns and Justin Jones had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Nigel Davis chipped in 143 yards. John Schmitt helped St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
Davis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute topped the Red Raiders. Davis' favorite target this week was Jones, who caught 3 passes for 64 yards.
Jones was the best receiver in Monsignor Martin this week as Dennis Gilbert's team defeated St. Francis. Schmitt helped St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
The Marauders' McCarthy and Jones led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback McCarthy has thrown for 893 yards this season, while Jones has 13 catches for 380 yards. Qadree Ollison from the Crusaders leads the league in rushing with 1,102 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and Canisius. The Marauders comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while Rich Robbins' team ranks seventh.
There should be lots of points scored when St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and the Crusaders face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Marauders comes in having scored 230 this season, while Canisius has scored 237. St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute scored 38 points last week as it bested Jerry Smith's team.
