The Franklinton Rams entered their tilt with the Nash Central Bulldogs with 16 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 17. Franklinton enjoyed a cozy 59-40 victory over Nash Central on Tuesday. Given Franklinton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Nash Central is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Franklinton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mikayla Taborn, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taborn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Hunt, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Franklinton pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Nash Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklinton will take on Bunn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklinton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Bunn likes a good challenge. As for Nash Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rocky Mount at 6:30 p.m. Rocky Mount is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
