Provo has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Uintah Utes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Provo focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
Even though Payson scored an imposing 60 points, Provo still came out on top. Provo took their match against the Lions 69-60.
Provo's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Finn Powelson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Powelson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Carter, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Uintah's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Layton Christian Academy at home and fell 62-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Uintah has scored all season.
Brayden Murray put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored nine points.
Uintah struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Layton Christian Academy pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Provo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Uintah, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Provo have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Provo and the Utes were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but the Bulldogs came up empty-handed after a 63-62 loss. Will Provo have more luck at home instead of on the road?
