Providence Day is 9-1 against Charlotte Latin since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Chargers will face off against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Providence Day is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Charlotte Christian hit Providence Day with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 7-1 to the Knights. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Rachel Lyons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin made easy work of Lee Park Prep on Monday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Hawks have won 12 games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ainsley Sullivan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Sullivan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Irie King and Caroline Coble did most of the damage at the plate: King went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Coble went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That triple marked the first that King has hit this season. Talia Hawa was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Charlotte Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Park Prep only posted a batting average of .143.
Charlotte Latin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Providence Day, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Providence Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 12.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Providence Day couldn't quite finish off Charlotte Latin in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 4-2. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
