It was a good run, but the Lake Fenton Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 62-41 walloping at the hands of Frankenmuth. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Lake Fenton has suffered yet this season.
Lake Fenton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ella Prevost, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Emerson Baker, who scored ten points.
Frankenmuth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clare Conzelmann led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. Conzelmann is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Mia McLaughlin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Lake Fenton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Frankenmuth, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Lake Fenton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Holly at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The timing isn't great for Holly: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Lake Fenton has snatched up 13 consecutive wins on the road. Frankenmuth will take on Flushing at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Flushing will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Frankenmuth is ranked 26th).
