Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sinton walked away with it. They blew past the Columbia Roughnecks 11-4 on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Dylan Arriaga made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Julian Suarez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Keldon Kemp, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Sinton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Columbia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-14-2.
As of now, neither Sinton nor the Roughnecks have any future games scheduled.
