The Robertson Cardinals waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They enjoyed a cozy 69-52 win over Santa Fe Prep. Given Robertson's advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Santa Fe Prep is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Esteban Medina, who scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Nathaniel Gonzales was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with two steals.
Robertson pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Santa Fe Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robertson will take on West Las Vegas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Las Vegas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Robertson likes a good challenge. As for Santa Fe Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Raton at 6:30 p.m.
