On Friday, The Ringwood Red Devils faced the Garber Wolverines in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ringwood fell 46-34 to Garber. Ringwood's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Carson Bishop went supernova for Garber, rushing for 279 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 16.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown. Bishop's longest reception was for an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Domingo Ramirez, who rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Ringwood's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Oklahoma Bible and 7-1 Turpin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.6% over those games). As for Garber, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Ringwood will face off against Cherokee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cherokee's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Garber, they will be playing at home against Kremlin-Hillsdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kremlin-Hillsdale comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
