The Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers will head out on the road to face off against the University Prep Science & Math Cobra at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Mt. Clemens' 12-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Edison Academy 43-37. Mt. Clemens has struggled against Edison Academy recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Le'ila Sears, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Leah Williams, who scored six points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, University Prep Science & Math was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 45-40 to Chandler Park Academy.
Mt. Clemens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for University Prep Science & Math, they bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Mt. Clemens skirted past University Prep Science & Math 2-0 when the teams last played back in December of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Clemens since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
