Carrizo Springs is 8-2 against the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carrizo Springs Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Carrizo Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Carrizo Springs ended up a good deal behind the Tigers and lost 65-46. Carrizo Springs has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite their loss, Carrizo Springs saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrea Rangel, who scored ten points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Adisyn Reyes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Carrizo Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Uvalde lost to the Tigers on the road by a decisive 50-32 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Uvalde can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1032nd, while the Tigers are ranked 433rd).
Carrizo Springs' record now sits at 21-12. Uvalde's record now sits at 12-15.
Carrizo Springs was able to grind out a solid win over the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) when the teams last played back in January, winning 54-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carrizo Springs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
