The Lyman Greyhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the Trinity Prep Saints at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lyman fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Oviedo on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Greyhounds have suffered since March 4, 2025.
Emma Chauncey spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Kira Gold made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Makayla Darwent was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Trinity Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Bishop Moore, falling 18-8.
Naomi Tanielian and Mercer Wilson did some serious damage despite the final result: Tanielian went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Wilson went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Agnew, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Lyman's record is now 1-1. As for Trinity Prep, their record now sits at 0-2.
Lyman couldn't quite get it done against Trinity Prep when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 4-1. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
