The Union County Fightin' Tigers will challenge the Bell Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
While Union County's victory against Bradford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Fightin' Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Tornadoes on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fightin' Tigers have posted since April 12, 2024.
Emma Handley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Courtney Manning, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bell fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bronson on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 10-9.
Bell also let their pitcher toss all ten innings and she was also dialed-in: Alaina Thomas gave up three earned (and seven unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Mayzie Carpenter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Gracelynd Joiner-Solis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Union County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Bell, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10.
Everything went Union County's way against Bell when the teams last played back in February, as Union County made off with an 11-5 win. Do the Fightin' Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
