The Lumberton Pirates lost against the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lumberton fell 57-45 to Fairmont. Lumberton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Lumberton still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Shephard scored a full 35.6% of Lumberton's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Lawson, who scored 5 points.
Fairmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Naishon Davis out in front who scored 14 points. The matchup was Davis' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ty'Rek Thompson, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Lumberton's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fairmont, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lumberton will take on Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Scotland and Lumberton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Fairmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cape Fear at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
