The Pamlico County Hurricanes will take on the West Carteret Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Pamlico County sitting on three straight victories and West Carteret on four.
On Tuesday, Pamlico County made easy work of Lejeune and carried off an 11-1 win. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Kylee Morris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morris was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Sarah Scott was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Alyssia Sinclair was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Pamlico County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lejeune only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, West Carteret owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against Richlands by a score of 5-0.
Not much got past Caitlin Dumarce, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Richlands off the board. Dumarce has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Pavy, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Margoupis, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Pamlico County's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for West Carteret, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.
Pamlico County's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. The Hurricanes have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Carteret, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.4 stolen bases.
