It was a good run, but the Potomac Senior Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freedom. Potomac Senior has struggled against Freedom recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Potomac Senior lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Saliyah Freeman, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Allen, who scored 14 points.
Freedom was led to victory by Savannah Price and Keilani Johnson. Price almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Johnson scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenneah DeGuzman, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Potomac Senior's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. As for Freedom, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Potomac Senior will take on Forest Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Potomac Senior is facing Forest Park at the right time seeing as Forest Park is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Freedom, they and Charles J. Colgan will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Charles J. Colgan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
