Softball Recap: Spring Hill's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Spring Hill fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Gilmer on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Buckeyes by a score of 11-10. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Khloe Saxon and Mattye Moore did some serious damage despite the final result: Saxon scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Moore scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubreigh Whiddon, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Spring Hill's loss dropped their record down to 14-10-1. As for Gilmer, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3-2 record this season.

Spring Hill is taking a road trip to challenge Carthage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests. As for Gilmer, they will square off against Mineola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Buckeyes 2.6, the Yellowjackets 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
