The Shaler Area Titans had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 57-44 victory over Fox Chapel. Given Shaler Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Fox Chapel is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fox Chapel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jefferson Moorefield-Brown, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Asher White was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fox Chapel struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Shaler Area's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2. As for Fox Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Shaler Area will head out on the road to face off against Upper St. Clair at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fox Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
