Softball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Bullitt East

Bullitt East waltzed into their game on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers with a sharp 8-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Mingus was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Courtney Bass was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Katlyn McDonald was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Bullitt East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasure Ridge Park only posted a batting average of .185.

Bullitt East pushed their record up to 22-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Bullitt East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-9 loss against Frederick Douglass on the 10th. As for Pleasure Ridge Park, they have also already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Lyon County on the 10th.
