A feisty cat fight will be fought as Chaminade-Madonna Lions duke it out with Western Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chaminade-Madonna is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Chaminade-Madonna had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt South Broward on Wednesday. Chaminade-Madonna was the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over South Broward. Considering the Lions have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Manny Delaosa looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Miguel Roa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AJ Vargas, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Chaminade-Madonna was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Broward only posted a batting average of .208.
Meanwhile, Western came up short against Cypress Bay on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mason McGeehan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Western saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taisuky Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Julian Alvarez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Chaminade-Madonna's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chaminade-Madonna has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chaminade-Madonna couldn't quite finish off Western when the teams last played back in April of 2019 and fell 7-5. Can Chaminade-Madonna avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
