After flying high against the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils last Friday, The Roncalli Royals came back down to earth. Roncalli took a 17-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mooresville on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Roncalli couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jayden Buchanan threw for 253 yards on 22 of 37 attempts. Christian Swiezy was his top target, picking up 98 receiving yards.
It was another big night for Hogan Denny, who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 232 yards and a touchdown. Denny really tore up the turf during one magnificent 90-yard run. Kaden Bruhn did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 104 receiving yards.
Roncalli has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Mooresville, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Roncalli does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mooresville will head out on the road to face off against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
