The Leroy Bears pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-56 bruising from McIntosh. While losing is never fun, Leroy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while McIntosh is ranked 110th).
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ray Phillips, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Phillips hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Taylor Crumedy, who scored 17 points along with five steals.
Leroy bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for McIntosh, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leroy is on the road again on Friday and play against Fruitdale at 5:00 p.m. on January 12th. Fruitdale is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for McIntosh, they will head out on the road to face off against Bayshore Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
