This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Michael Valencia and Jaron Cannon. Valencia rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries while Cannon rushed for 136 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. Cannon's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another big playmaker for Omaha North was Darion Jones, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Omaha North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northeast only rushed for 81.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Omaha North, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jones, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four matchup, Buena Vista brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They really took it to Bellevue West for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-0 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bison's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 27th).
Omaha North pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Buena Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Omaha North against Buena Vista in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 57-0 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
