West Wendover's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Oasis Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Wolverines blew past the Bighorns 12-6. Considering the Wolverines have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aidien Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tavian Gonzalez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Perez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
West Wendover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oasis Academy struck out eight times.
West Wendover pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Oasis Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 17-5.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Wendover has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454.
