After a string of three wins, Richfield's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Kennedy Eagles by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since May 13, 2024.

Richfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Richfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Kennedy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Richfield will take on Fridley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Kennedy, they will host Academy of Holy Angels at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.2, the Stars 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
