The Decatur Raiders will face off against the Lawrence Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Decatur has six straight wins, Lawrence has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Decatur is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Comstock a 25-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Raiders have won five contests by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Emmilynne LaPorte made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Bradford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, six RBI, and two triples. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Mallory Kelly was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Decatur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.6.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Lawrence's offense. They lost 19-0 to Marcellus on Monday.
Decatur's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Decatur took their victory against Lawrence in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
