Basketball Recap: Hoku Pili's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Granger over Park City

Granger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Park City Miners. The Lancers lost against the Miners in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-22 score last time.

Granger's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hoku Pili, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Pili is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.

Leading Park City to victory were Kalynn Nickell and Kristyna Murry. Nickell posted seven points, while Murry earned seven points. Another player making a difference was Jonny Spencer, who had five points.

Granger's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Park City, they moved to 1-3 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Granger didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-46 win against Rockwell on the 5th. As for Park City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 24-21 victory against Juan Diego Catholic on the 6th.
