The Wheaton Academy Warriors will square off against the Taft Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Wheaton Academy's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Taft has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
On Saturday, Wheaton Academy got the win against Harvest Christian Academy by a conclusive 10-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Bryce Legel tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dom Murrell, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Kiebles, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Taft didn't have quite enough to beat Simeon on Thursday and fell 11-10.
Evan Jocic and Andrew Korolis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Jocic went 2-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Korolis went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Korolis has become a key player for Taft: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 14-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Rodriguez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Wheaton Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wheaton Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
