The Plainview Pirates put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Hartington-Newcastle. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Plainview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Spencer Hille, who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Gage Walton was another key contributor, rushing for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Hartington-Newcastle's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Sudbeck, who threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Heimes, who picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Plainview's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points per game. As for Hartington-Newcastle, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Plainview has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Elkhorn Valley at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Elkhorn Valley is ranked 18th, while Plainview is ranked tenth). Hartington-Newcastle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
