The Elkhorn South Storm will be playing at home against the Bryan Bears at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Elkhorn South has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Elkhorn South posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 72-35 win over Buena Vista. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Elkhorn South did.
Elkhorn South's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aidan Skradis, who scored 17 points. Cooper Mroczek was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bryan came up short against Creighton Prep on Tuesday and fell 56-49. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bryan has scored all season.
Bryan's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of A'mare Bynum, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds, and Amir Martin who scored 17 points. Bynum is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played.
Elkhorn South's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Bryan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Elkhorn South have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Bryan, though, as they've been averaging only 28.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Elkhorn South strolled past Bryan in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 by a score of 67-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Bryan's Jai'lyn Spears, who scored 23 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Elkhorn South to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
