After a string of five wins, the Breathitt County Bobcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 81-58 loss at the hands of Rowan County. Breathitt County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-27.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braxton Terry, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Canaan Gross was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Rowan County was led to victory by Brayden Mirus and Colby Wilburn. Mirus dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists, while Wilburn scored 25 points. That's the first time this season that Mirus posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Weston Maxey, who scored 15 points.
Breathitt County's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Rowan County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Breathitt County will take on Danville Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Danville Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games. As for Rowan County, they will head out on the road to challenge Bath County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bath County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Rowan County is ranked 48th).
