Things haven't been easy for Perquimans, and their matchup on Friday only extended their streak of losses to nine. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 18-48 punch to the gut against Manteo on Friday. The state rankings had actually given Perquimans a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
Perquimans are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-9. The win makes it two in a row for Manteo and bumps their record up to 5-4.
The teams are both focusing on improving their conference standings in their upcoming contests. Next week Perquimans will take on Camden County at 7:30 PM. Those two teams have had a rocky road up to this point with nine consecutive losses apiece. As for Manteo, they will face off against John A. Holmes. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
