Midtown had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-8 to make it six. They fell just short of the Creekside Seminoles by a score of 6-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seminoles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in August.
Katie Tedder was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Tedder was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Midtown got a good showing from Maggie Morran, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest earned runs Morran has allowed since back in September of 2024.
Back at the plate, Annie Evens made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
As for Creekside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.
Like Midtown, Creekside also got a great game from a two-way player: Rhianna Weaver. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Weaver has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Aneesa Hall was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024. Ivorie Conner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midtown will square off against Forest Park at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 14.1 runs per game this season. As for Creekside, they will welcome Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Seminoles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
