The Springstead Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Nature Coast Tech Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Springstead knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Nature Coast Tech likes a good challenge.
Springstead pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Springstead in their matchups with Central: they've now lost four in a row.
Springstead's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nick Cordero, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, and Austin Nicholson who scored 11 points along with seven assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Cordello, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Nature Coast Tech's and Crystal River's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but Nature Coast Tech turned on the heat in the second half with 37 points. Nature Coast Tech was the clear victor by a 65-43 margin over Crystal River. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Nature Coast Tech.
Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Nature Coast Tech, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Springstead strolled past Nature Coast Tech in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 54-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springstead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
