Basketball Game Preview: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Rocky Mountain Lobos

The Fort Collins Lambkins will square off against the Rocky Mountain Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Collins is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, Fort Collins came up short against Heritage and fell 64-53. While losing is never fun, the Lambkins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Eagles are ranked 57th).

Fort Collins might have lost, but man, Marcel Herrera was a machine: he went 8 for 14 on his way to 23 points. Herrera's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Rylan Uhrich was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain ended up a good deal behind Fairview on Saturday and lost 62-44. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fort Collins will need focus on slowing down Daniel Mbadinga, one of several Rocky Mountain players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden McClelland, who put up six points.

Fort Collins' defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Fort Collins has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Fort Collins suffered a grim 62-40 defeat to Rocky Mountain when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Fort Collins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
