Chino Hills and Etiwanda are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Huskies will take on the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chino Hills comes in on three and Etiwanda on 13.
On Friday, Chino Hills got the win against Los Osos by a conclusive 9-1.
Chino Hills got a great performance from Bella Frausto as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Chino Hills let Lyla Gonzalez and Lianna Ferrara run wild. Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Ferrara went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Gonzalez has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Etiwanda made easy work of Los Osos on Wednesday and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Mya Coleman tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dailynn Battee, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimberlee Aleman, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Etiwanda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Los Osos only posted a batting average of .250.
Etiwanda's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Chino Hills, their record is now 15-8.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chino Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Etiwanda struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
